Herculaneum
Herculaneum suffered the same fate as Pompeii during the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79 AD.
Herculaneum was covered by volcanic, pyroclastic flows, the layers of which were deep enough
to conserve the upper storeys of the buildings while the superheated volcanic streams carbonised
and preserved organic materials such as wood, cloth, papyri and food.
During the tour you will get in the roman houses where you could almost hear the voices of
the owners calling each other’s, you will see some unique details such as the original doors and
all the original furniture of the shops. You won't miss the place they loved most : the thermal baths.
